Friends United Press is a Quaker (Religious Society of Friends) publishing house with a list that includes Quaker history, biography, theology, spirituality, and inspirational titles. Founded in 1969, the press is the publishing arm of Friends United Meeting, an international association of Friends meetings and churches, whose purpose is to "energize and equip Friends through the power of the Holy Spirit to gather people into fellowships where Jesus Christ is known, loved, and obeyed as Teacher and Lord." Friends United Press publishes 2-3 new titles a year, and has over 80 titles in print.

Howard Thurman
The late Howard Thurman and Friends United Press began their association
in 1971 with the paperback edition of The Inward Journey. Since
then, eleven other titles have been added to the Thurman Paperback Series.
Theologian, preacher and spiritual mentor, Howard Thurman was identified
by Life magazine as one of the twelve "greatest preachers
of the century." His essays, sermons, meditations, poems, and prayers
are timeless.
